Car Window Tinting

Car window tinting is a thin automotive window film applied to the inside of your vehicle’s glass to cut heat, glare and UV exposure and add privacy. Jiffy Auto Glass installs carbon and nano ceramic window film at our Wheat Ridge Auto Shop, precision-cut for a clean, factory-style fit on cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, commercial vehicles and RVs.

Colorado’s higher elevation exposes vehicles to stronger UV rays and intense solar heat. Quality film keeps the cabin cooler and helps protect seats and dashboards from fading, and we’ll help you pick a shade that meets Colorado’s tint rules.

In-shop at our Wheat Ridge Auto Shop, by appointment. Most appointments take one to four hours. Free window tint quotes.

What Is Car Window Tinting?

Window tint is a layered film bonded to the inside of the glass. It controls how much visible light passes through (VLT), and it blocks UV and some of the sun’s heat. The film type sets how much heat it rejects; the shade sets how dark it looks.

Why Drivers Choose Window Tint

Actual heat-control performance varies by film type, selected shade, glass area and vehicle configuration.

  • Stay cooler with less heat buildup on commutes, errands and road trips, so your air conditioning doesn’t have to work as hard
  • Reduce glare from direct sunlight, reflective pavement and surrounding traffic
  • Protect your interior from UV exposure that contributes to fading and wear
  • Add privacy for passengers and belongings
  • A clean, customized look from professionally installed film

Colorado Window Tint Rules

Under Colorado law (C.R.S. 42-4-227), windows other than the windshield generally must let in at least 27% of light, and windshield tint is limited to the top four inches. Film can’t have a metallic or mirrored appearance, and the windshield strip can’t be red or amber. Some exceptions apply to windows behind the driver, so we’ll confirm what’s allowed for your vehicle before we install anything.

Light transmission is measured through the film and the glass together. Many SUVs and trucks have factory-darkened rear glass, so a film that looks light on the roll can read darker once it’s installed. We account for that when we recommend a shade.

Carbon or Nano Ceramic?

Not sure which film fits? Here’s the quick way to choose.

Choose carbon if you want

  • Strong everyday performance
  • The best value
  • A film for a daily driver or work vehicle

Choose nano ceramic if you

  • Park outside or drive a lot in direct sun
  • Want the most heat control without a darker shade
  • Want a non-metallic film that won't interfere with phone or GPS signals

Window Tinting Services

Two films, any vehicle, and old tint removed first when it needs to go.

Carbon Window Tint

What it is: Great everyday performance at a lower price point, for daily drivers and work vehicles.

Nano Ceramic Window Tint

What it is: Maximum heat and infrared rejection with a clean, non-metallic look.

Truck, SUV and Van Tint

What it is: Factory-tinted rear glass needs careful shade selection, so we match the film to what's already there.

RV Window Tint

What it is: Big windows mean more heat and more interior fading. Film helps keep an RV cooler and more private on the road and at camp.

Commercial and Fleet Vehicle Tint

What it is: Add privacy for tools and cargo and keep cabins cooler for crews. See our commercial fleet auto glass service.

Old Tint Removal

What it is: Bubbling, peeling or purple film comes off cleanly before new film goes on.

How Much Does Window Tinting Cost?

There’s no single average cost for automotive window tint. Price depends on the film (carbon or nano ceramic), how many windows you’re tinting, the vehicle’s size, and whether old tint has to be removed. Nano ceramic costs more than carbon because of its higher heat and infrared rejection. Every quote is free, and we review pricing with you before work is scheduled.

Film type

Carbon or nano ceramic. Nano ceramic costs more for its higher heat and infrared rejection.

Number of windows

Tinting a pair of windows costs less than tinting the whole vehicle.

Vehicle size

Trucks, vans and RVs have more glass to cover.

Old tint removal

Failing film has to come off before new film goes on.

Window Tinting FAQs

What's the difference between carbon and nano ceramic tint?

Both block 99% of UV rays and reduce glare. Nano ceramic offers maximum heat and infrared rejection; carbon offers excellent heat rejection at a lower price.

Is ceramic tint worth the extra money?

If you park outside, drive a lot in direct sun or want maximum heat control without going darker, usually yes. For everyday comfort on a budget, carbon is a strong value.

What's the darkest legal tint in Colorado?

For most vehicles, side and rear windows must let in at least 27% of light, measured through the film and glass together. Some exceptions apply behind the driver. We’ll confirm the limit for your vehicle.

Is 20% tint legal in Colorado?

On front side windows, no. 20% lets in less light than Colorado’s 27% minimum. Windows behind the driver have some exceptions, so ask us about your vehicle.

Can you tint the windshield in Colorado?

Only a strip along the top, no more than four inches down from the top of the windshield, and it can’t be red or amber.

How long does window tinting take?

Most appointments take one to four hours, depending on vehicle size and the number of windows.

Will ceramic tint interfere with my phone or GPS?

Our nano ceramic film is non-metallic and designed not to interfere with GPS, Bluetooth, cellular or radio signals.

What warranty comes with the film?

Qualifying carbon and nano ceramic films carry a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty.

Do you tint trucks, vans, RVs and commercial vehicles?

Yes. We tint sedans, coupes, hatchbacks, SUVs, trucks, vans, commercial vehicles and RVs.

Is window tinting mobile?

No. Tinting is done in-shop at our Wheat Ridge Auto Shop, and appointments are required.

How long does window tint last?

Quality film installed professionally is built to last for years, and qualifying carbon and nano ceramic films carry a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty. Bubbling, peeling or a purple cast are signs it’s time to replace it.

Is it worth paying for professional tint instead of a DIY kit?

Usually. Curved glass, tight edges and rear windows are hard to do by hand, and mistakes show as bubbles and gaps. We precision-cut the film for a clean, factory-style fit.

Can you remove old tint?

Yes. We remove old or failing film before installing new tint.
