Fun Fact About Extreme Temperature Changes
Extreme temperature changes can quickly turn those pesky chips into full blown cracks. Colorado is known for its sudden temperature swings – something anyone who lives in Ft. Collins, Boulder, Denver, Colorado Springs, etc can attest to. There are some things you can’t control (death and taxes, for example) and some you can – washing your car in sub-freezing weather without warming up your windshield is one of the things you can control.
Carwashes use hot water to best clean your car. This hot water, when sprayed on a car in sub-freezing temperatures, can wreak havoc on your windshield. If we had a dollar for every time we had a customer wash their car in freezing weather and then call us because the little chip turned into a crack... well let’s just say, we’d be on a beach in Mexico instead of writing these blogs.
So do yourself a favor – if you have a chip in your windshield, make sure to:
- a) get it repaired and
- b) heat your windshield before washing your car.
And if you’re in Denver and like to wash your own car, like us, consider washing your car at Happy Henry’s located at 6910 E Girard Ave, Denver, CO 80224. Tell them Jiffy sent you!
